WoW Fishing Guide to the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza
2009-03-10 00:00:00
Doing well at the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza is hardly about luck. The same people often win several times, so obviously there are some things that a player can do to increase his or her chances of catching a lot of fish. These practices should help increase the amount of fish that you can catch. If you get good enough at them, you might even win the SVFE sometimes. Finding a Good Spot There is a spot on the STV east coast that you can use to catch a lot of fish quickly, especially if you are the only one in that area. Its around 41,58. You can spot it because there are two tastyfish spawns within thirty yard of each other. If you get really lucky, you might be able to fish one until it runs out, go to the next one, and then return to the first one when the second runs out. Fish by Yourself You will also incre...

WoW in 3D doesn
2009-03-10 00:00:00
3D seems to be making a reemergence lately -- there was a 3D commercial on the Super Bowl last week, I'm going to see Coraline in 3D this weekend (Neil Gaiman and stop motion for the win), and Nvidia's 3D Vision cards have recently been integrated with World of Warcraft. But not so fast there: apparently while the system does make WoW stereoscopic (sends a different picture to each eye), and while it does work for some media (apparently watching 3D HD c...

by Adam Holisky { 1 day ago } Jan 20th, 2009 It looks like there's a good chance patch 3.0.8 will be released today. As such, we've prepared all our 3.0.8 resources into one gigantic page that you can reference: WoW Insider's Guide to Patch 3.0.8. This includes everything from the class changes and analysis, to patch notes, to all the fun with achievements. Assuming 3.0.8 is released today, we should be getting the official live patch notes within the next eight hours or so. In the mean time, the PTR notes will provide a great insight into what is to come. Keep an eye out here for the latest. Th...
WoW is the new
2009-03-10 00:00:00
This is interesting -- a researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (just up the road from me here in Chicago) says that World of Warcraft is an emerging new "third place." That is, it's a place in between your work and home where you make friends and otherwise interact with new people. Starbucks has even used the term in their actual marketing (to try to make their coffee shops a hangout more than just a place that you stop by and grab a cuppa joe), and WoW isn't even the first videogame to fit the critera -- Sony advertised the Playstation 2 as a "third place" in Europe. But even though Blizzard has n...
WoW Jewelcrafting Guide 1-375
2009-03-10 00:00:00
World of Warcraft Jewelcrafting Guide Jewelcrafting can be both a profitable and a useful profession for any class in World of Warcraft. You can learn to create many rings and necklaces which can be more difficult to come by at lower levels, as well as some cloth head armor and trinkets that only the Jewelcrafter can use. It should be noted that, because Jewelcrafting was introduced with the Burning Crusade expansion, you cannot learn the profession in the basic cities of Azeroth. You will need to visit a Burning Crusade city, like Exodar or Silvermoon City. You can talk to any guard to locate the Jewelcrafting trainer. This is just a nice quick overview to increase your alchemy skill. For an in-depth guide that also includes gold making as well, take a look at this WoW profession guide. It's helpful and less expensive to train in Mining for your 2nd profession, but it may not be necessary if you already have a character that is a miner or if you have the gold to buy your materials at the Auction House. Jewelcrafting Apprentice (up to 50) With 60-100 Copper Bars, you can create 30-50 Delicate Copper Wire and attain 30-40 Jewelcrafting skill points. Then you can use some of that Delicate Copper Wire ...
WoW Lead Designer Leaves for New MMO
2009-03-10 00:00:00
Jeffrey Kaplan, a lead designer of World of Warcraft has posted a message in the Wow forums telling players that he will no longer be working on World of Warcaft. He goes on to say he has moved on to work on Blizzard's as of yet unannounced MMO project. Here's a snippet of his post: Posted by: Tigole Source I wanted to take a moment to let the community know that Ive switched roles here at Blizzard to work on our upcoming, unannounced MMO. World of Warcraft has been such a central part of my life these past six and a half years, and its success would not have been possible without the tremendous...
WoW Leatherworking Guide 1-375
2009-03-10 00:00:00
Leatherworking Overview Leatherworkers often double up with the Skinning tradeskill. They can skin beasts that they have slain and use the leather to create armor for themselves and others. Leatherworkers are able to craft an extensive amount of Epic quality armors, both Bind on Pickup and Bind on Equip. They are also able to use Drums C usable items that give short duration group buffs. Leatherworking Specialization At skill level 200, a Leatherworker is able to choose a specialization. The options are Elemental Leatherworking, Tribal Leatherworking, and Dragonscale Leatherworking. This is just a nice quick overview to increase your leatherworking skill. For an in-depth guide that also includes gold making as well, take a look at this WoW profession guide. Elemental Leatherworkers tend to craft items that increase their resists to different schools of magic. At max. skill level they can make Epic quality Belt, Bracers and Chest called Primalstrike that is best suited for Rogues and Feral Druids. WoW Lockpicking Guide 1-350
2009-03-10 00:00:00
There are locked doors throughout World of Warcraft, as well as locked chests in the environment and locked boxes that can be looted from enemy bodies. Blacksmiths can craft keys that will unlock some chests, boxes or doors. Engineers can also craft "charges" to blow open some doors or chests. However, these items require specific materials be used to make them, so many blacksmiths and engineers don't keep them in stock. Rogues can readily open any door, chest or box if their Lockpicking skill is near the maximum level of 375 (350+ should actually be enough). This is just a nice quick overview to increase your lockpicking skill. For an in-depth guide that also includes gold making as well, take a look at this WoW profession guide. In fact, some groups of players will prefer to take a rogue with them into a dungeon like Shattered Halls, just to avoid taking the long way through a cave full of ooze creatures. But how do you get your skill up to the max First, you can learn the Pick Lock skill from your Rogue Trainer at level 16 and you will need Thieves Tools to use it, you can usually buy these from a Shady Dealer or Poison Vendor. This item won't disappear when you use your Pick Lock skill, so you on...
